What instaStop does
instaStop adds a moment of intention before Instagram opens. You choose why you’re opening Instagram and how much Instagram usage time you want. instaStop uses Apple’s Screen Time system to protect Instagram between sessions.
Setting up instaStop
- Open instaStop.
- Complete onboarding.
- Allow Screen Time access.
- instaStop attempts to resolve Instagram automatically where iOS permits.
- If required, iOS shows Apple’s one-time app picker.
- Select Instagram only.
- Enable protection.
Opening Instagram
Open Instagram → Screen Time shield → tap Open → choose purpose → choose duration → Continue.
Session duration
Choose an allowance of 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 15 minutes. This measures frontmost Instagram usage time: time spent using Instagram on screen, rather than simple wall-clock time.
If you choose 5 minutes and leave Instagram after using it for 2 minutes, time spent in other apps does not normally count toward your 5 minutes. instaStop also uses a separate 30-minute safety window to restore protection if the usage allowance is not completed, so temporary access does not remain open indefinitely. Screen Time updates and callbacks may not happen at exactly the expected moment.
Ending a session
You can manually end an active session from instaStop. When the session ends, Instagram is protected again.
Pause protection
Open Settings → Pause protection in instaStop for a temporary pause. You can resume protection manually whenever you are ready. You control your device.
If Instagram isn’t ready
- Confirm Screen Time access is allowed.
- Confirm Instagram is installed.
- Return to instaStop and retry setup.
- If Apple’s app picker appears, select Instagram only.
- If setup is complete, try toggling protection off and on.
- Restart instaStop if its state appears stale.
- Contact support if the issue persists.
If Instagram does not re-protect
- Open instaStop.
- Check the Protection status.
- End any active session if appropriate.
- Resume protection if it is paused.
- Close and reopen instaStop so it can reconcile its state with Screen Time.
- Restart the app or device if needed.
- Contact support if the issue persists.
Protection relies on Apple’s Screen Time system, whose callback timing can vary.
Screen Time permission
instaStop requires Apple’s Screen Time authorization because that is how it protects Instagram. Allow Screen Time access when prompted during setup.
Privacy
instaStop keeps its settings and session information on your device. Read the instaStop Privacy Policy for details.
