About this policy
This policy applies to Safeguard, also known as Purchase Guardian, the iOS app that helps you organize purchase records, receipts, warranty information, return dates and supporting documents.
Information you choose to store
You may add product and merchant names, prices and currencies, purchase and deadline dates, model or serial information, receipts, invoices, warranty and protection-plan documents, product photos, claim or support evidence, repair records and notes. Imported documents and images may themselves contain personal information. Add only information you are comfortable keeping in the app.
Local storage
Safeguard stores purchase records in the app's local data store and saves document files in app-managed storage on your device. The current app implementation does not configure iCloud sync or a Safeguard purchase-data backend. This is a local-first design, not a statement that every kind of processing always stays on your device. If you use Smart Analysis, selected information can be processed by Apple AI services as described below.
Document text extraction
Receipt and document text extraction uses Apple's Vision and PDFKit frameworks on your device. Extracted text is saved with the local purchase record for review and document features. The app does not automatically upload OCR output as a separate analytics or receipt-processing feed. If you later use an AI feature, selected extracted text may be included in that request.
AI features
Smart Analysis can be turned off in Settings. When it is on, opening a Pro Warranty Review for a document can start analysis of that document's extracted text, together with the purchase date when available. When you submit a question in Warranty Assistant, Safeguard can send that question with confirmed facts for that purchase and selected, retrieved excerpts from its attached documents. It does not send the original PDF or image to the model request. Claim Assistant currently prepares a deterministic draft on-device and does not send claim details to an AI model.
Depending on device, operating-system version and availability, model requests use Apple's on-device Foundation Models or Apple's Private Cloud Compute (PCC). Longer document context may be routed to PCC when available; a request may otherwise use the on-device model. If the selected service is unavailable, analysis can fail and you can continue with manual review or other non-AI app features. Turning Smart Analysis off prevents these model requests.
AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete. Safeguard does not make binding warranty or coverage decisions. Check important information against your original documents and the retailer, manufacturer, insurer or other relevant provider. This policy does not make claims about Apple's retention or model-training practices.
Camera and photo library
The camera opens only when you choose the receipt-capture action. For image import, Safeguard uses Apple's Photos picker after you choose it; the implementation does not request broad photo-library access. The app does not access the camera or photos in the background.
Notifications
If you authorize notifications and enable reminders for a purchase, Safeguard schedules local notifications for confirmed return deadlines and warranty dates (currently seven and two days before return dates, and thirty and seven days before warranty dates, when those reminders are still upcoming). Reminder text includes the product name and deadline type. Notifications are scheduled on your device; the app does not implement remote push notifications.
Analytics
The live app currently uses a no-op analytics service. It does not send analytics events to an analytics provider or Safeguard backend, and no third-party analytics SDK is configured. A typed analytics interface and test-only recorder exist in the source, but they do not transmit events in the live app.
App Store purchases
Safeguard Pro purchases and entitlement checks use Apple StoreKit 2 and the App Store. Apple processes payment transactions; Safeguard receives product and subscription entitlement information needed to unlock features. Prices displayed in the app are supplied by StoreKit for the current storefront. Apple handles payment details and its services are governed by Apple's own terms and privacy information. Deleting Safeguard data does not delete Apple's transaction history.
Services and sharing
The current app implementation integrates Apple operating-system frameworks for local storage, document and image selection, OCR, notifications, AI and App Store purchases. No Safeguard backend, Cloudflare service, Firebase service, crash-reporting service or third-party analytics SDK is configured in the reviewed app source. Information may be processed by Apple when you use StoreKit or an Apple AI capability; this policy does not describe Apple's processing beyond what Safeguard's implementation controls.
Sale and advertising
Safeguard does not sell personal information and does not use purchase data for targeted advertising.
Deleting information
You can delete an individual purchase, which removes its saved record and associated document files, or remove an individual document from a purchase. Settings also provides Delete All Data: after confirmation, it removes saved purchase records and their related local documents, extracted text, warranty and claim data, reminders and history, and cancels pending and delivered local notifications. These actions do not delete App Store transaction history or information already processed by Apple. The app has no Recently Deleted recovery area; deletion is intended to remove the selected local app data.
Security
Safeguard stores purchase data locally and applies complete file protection to saved document files. The app and device operating-system protections are intended to help protect information. No method of storage or processing can be described as completely secure, so keep your device and original documents appropriately protected.
Children
Safeguard is not specifically designed to knowingly collect children's personal information independently of content a user enters into the app.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change as Safeguard changes. The effective date above will be updated when this policy is revised.
